Vents (b. Joseph Lardner, a.k.a Vents One or Vents 1) is an Australian hip hop artist from Adelaide, South Australia. He is known for his dark political content and aggressive delivery,[1] and his association with the Certified Wise crew, whose members include the Hilltop Hoods, Funkoars, Cross-Bred Mongrels and Terra Firma. With producer Trials of Funkoars, who is known for his extensive body of work with Hilltop Hoods, Drapht and Ash Grunwald, he has released two albums, 2007's Hard to Kill and 2011's Marked for Death, under the moniker Vents.[2] In 2010, DJ Adfu joined Trials as a collaborator with Vents, allowing Trials to concentrate on his other commitments.

In 2011, the group signed to Hilltp Hoods' label Golden Era Records and released their second album Marked for Death.[3] The album debuted at #25 on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart [4] and was later nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Urban Album.[5]

Vents have toured extensively and are known for their energetic live show, playing festivals such as the Big Day Out, Sprung Festival, and Homebake as well as supporting acts such as Wu-Tang Clan and Hilltop Hoods.[6][7][8]

In 2006, Vents began working with producer Trials on a solo release. On 16 December 2008, Vents released the Trials-produced song "Class War" via the MySpace social networking site with the following message:

I was going to save this for the next album but I figured I will dedicate this to the folks in Greece before they run out of steam. RIP Alexis and all the best to you kids in Greece looking for a better quality of life. Trials on the boards and turnies of course.
